Open Heart Kitchen

Who We Are

Founded in 1995 as an inter-faith effort, Open Heart Kitchen’s mission is to offer nutritious meals, free of charge, to disadvantaged people of the Tri-Valley. OHK is the largest free meal service of its kind in the area and served over 328,000 meals last year.

We take pride in serving delicious, nutritious meals to anyone in need. Everyone is welcome! Guests can eat as much as they need or take meals home.

East Livermore Hot Meal Program

Supporting families and individuals in need in Livermore, the East Livermore Hot Meal Program is Open Heart Kitchen’s “flagship” project where the agency has been addressing the hunger needs of the community for over twenty years.

Meals are available from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday at Robert Livermore Community Center, 4444 East Avenue, Livermore. Anyone can receive a free nutritious hot meal made from scratch by staff and volunteers. Meals include a protein and a starch (like chicken and rice), fresh vegetables, green salad, fruit salad, and beverages. Guests are welcome to either dine in or take meals to go.

Asbury provides a team to prepare and serve meals from 12:30-3:20 p.m. on the first Wednesday each month. For more information about participating, contact Carol Perry or the church office.
