Asbury Youth Education
Sunday School
During the 1st Sunday of every month, middle school and high school students remain in the worship service to worship with the whole Asbury UMC community and celebrate Communion. The other Sundays, we have some wonderful Sunday School options for youth during the 2010-2011 school year.
The first is our Middle School Sunday School class, taught by Leila & Patrick Epperson and Kathleen and Ross Turk. This class meets in Room 13 and is open to 6th and 7th grade students. They work with a wonderful curriculum that will expose them to a variety of stories from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. It's called "Seasons of the Spirit" and you can find out more information about it here.
Our High School Sunday School class is taught by Tony Gnecco and Beth Szymanski. This class meets in Room 15 and is open to 9-12th grade students. This class is a fun and engaging way of working through important topics related to the spiritual formation of our high school youth.
Confirmation Class
Our 2010-2011 Confirmation Class is taught by Nancy Deis and Don Faul. The class is for 8th graders. This year we are using a brand new curriculum called re:form. Confirmation is a great opporutnity for youth to examine and think about important topics of the Christian faith and at the end of the year, see if they desire to make a commitment both to Asbury and the United Methodist Church by being Confirmed and becoming a member. If you'd like to see an example of the new videos that we're using for Confirmation, you can watch the one below.
